There are a good many folks out there who have been homeschooling for longer than I have. Or maybe you have expertise in a specific area – like homeschooling boys, teaching in a language other than English, using an umbrella or charter school, or taking advantage of distance education and government vouchers or subsidies. Got something you’d like to share with our readers? Give me a shout! Remember, this is your space!

I want to be hearing from you if you are an afterschooler who has found innovative ways to get the school homework done as required, and still have time for a unit study or to go out for a nature walk or take an art class.

I want to hear from you if you have legal information on homeschooling in Alberta, Arizona, Austria, Missouri, Nunavut or Zimbabwe!

I want to hear from you if you’ve found unique ways to teach science, math or social studies, or have fulfilled legal or pre-university obligations in a creative way that turned out well and got your home scholar noticed in a good way.

I want to hear from those who use Thomas Jefferson, Montessori, Waldorf or Well-Trained Mind. Share with us what makes these approaches to homeschooling unique, and why somebody might opt to use them.

Got a family business, run a farm or work from home? How do you juggle the demands of both work and school at home? Or perhaps you are a student yourself, and need to find a way to balance teaching with attending your own classes and doing homework.

The universe of homeschooling and afterschooling is both immense, and sometimes quite small. There are a plethora of choices to make for our children, and sometimes we change things along the way as we learn more or as our kids’ needs change. On the other hand, if you get involved in homeschooling communities either locally or online, you’ll probably discover that you keep bumping into familiar faces and names. You’ll see that even if every other family in your neighbourhood packs the kids off on the school bus at 7:30, yours is not the only family still in bed or lingering over breakfast while planning out a day of nature study, poetry and a picnic by the lake!

So let me hear from you, let me know what you have to say! You can leave a comment here, use this form to submit content, or contact me on Twitter or by email – Ruby (at) blogalogues (dot) com. Be sure to mention School’s Out so I will see your message right away!
